Afrikaans – Grade 4-9

Welcome to the Intermediate Phase Afrikaans course! This course aims to provide you with a solid foundation in Afrikaans as a First Additional Language (FAL). Whether you are a beginner or have some prior knowledge of Afrikaans, this course will help you develop your language skills and gain confidence in your ability to communicate effectively in Afrikaans.

Course Overview:

This course is designed for learners in the intermediate phase, typically between the ages of 10 and 12, who are studying Afrikaans as an additional language. It follows a progressive approach, gradually building upon the language skills acquired in the foundation phase. By the end of this course, you will have developed a solid understanding of grammar, vocabulary, reading and communication strategies in Afrikaans.

  • Develop Vocabulary: Expand your Afrikaans vocabulary by learning new words and expressions related to various topics such as family, hobbies, school, and everyday life.
  • Grammar Skills: Master essential grammar concepts and structures in Afrikaans, include grammar lessons and explanations for various grammatical concepts.
  • Reading Comprehension: Improve your reading skills by engaging with a variety of texts, such as short stories, articles, and dialogues, to enhance your comprehension and interpretation abilities.
  • Writing Skills: Enhance your ability to write coherent and grammatically correct Afrikaans sentences and paragraphs, focusing on descriptive and narrative writing.
